my face looks like this under ultraviolet light

BEHOLD, the work of Francoise Nielly

"French artist Francoise Nielly is no stranger to the grand scale.  Her vibrant, illuminating works regularly span six feet in length, a size that gives her work a captivating quality.  These portraits capture the beauty and emotion of a range of faces, showing the colorful variety of the human spirit" -You're not wrong..

If ever I wanted a family portrait it is my this woman. My art class is going pretty well, so I'm cultural -ising my brain at the moment to get into painting. So far I'm terrified of paint and much more comfortable with a pencil.

Just WOW... I love colour

this week..

This guy

Steve Jobs probably inspired more people than ever as he passed away on Thursday. My news feed was full of 'big' quotes, but for once I didn't mind the spammyness of it all.

Annie Mac was in all week for Fearne Cotton, and so i was introduced to some serious tunes. I love that she's irish, but for some reason on Irish  radio stations, i'm just not impressed with the dj's.

its a bit like the music on Ci Ci Cavanagh's blog, which i LOVE! Go listen now, its just like having background music to your life. I imagine it would be the music to the show about me, if i was in a Truman Show kinda world.

Also I decided i'm going to balayage my hair (whats that, a year late you say?..you shut up), my hair is kinda sorta naturally balayaged (in your face). I would love to go with peachy tones, as pink would be a bit much in work at the moment, ala Lauren Conrad

..and finally i started an art class (i know, check me out)..

currently drawing an hopefully painting a lot of Tim Walker photos

This is a poor selection of his work, go buy the book, it's unreal. Every photo is like something you may have imagined once and there it is, in print!

and for now  i bid you adieu...has anyone gone into Dublin Contemporary yet? I must this weekend, I hear good things.

On facebook? OMG, me too!

adele

I'm having a love affair with everything Adele at the moment. She is so talented but comes across so normal. As in we're not gonna see her doing a dance routine in a swimsuit and glitter any time soon... listen up Gaga, Katie, Britney, Keisha, Miley... put  some pants on!

..now my stalking of Adele as been upped a notch today, i found her Blog.. i had a video which she posted on her blog a while ago but its off youtueb now, this will have to do! (oh well)

In conclusion, we like Adele, we like her music taste, we like that fact that she goes out drinking with her mates and we like that she has no immediate intention to sell a perfume with her blood in it or make her own branded corn flakes.

..and if you didn't see her Graham Norton interview the other night, watch it!! she recalls the time where she walked to the shop in a poncho dress with no underwear on, and as you can imagine the wind took advantage, resulting in her flashing a bus stop full of people, HA!

this post goes out to Becky!

update...

have you got this yet? all head and shoulders shots, but gorgeous!

living in the future

To be honest, I really thought we would have hovering skateboards by 2011, 'Back to the Future' promised so much!

This year i don't really have many resolutions, I'll clean my room and maybe go for a walk this week and feel better about myself.

However i have made a life changing decision. I have decide to live for a long time. Not that I planned to only aim for my thirties and then pack it in. Oh no, i plan to live for ages, I'm aiming for about 112. Most of the oldest people in the world live till about 115, the current oldest person in the world is Eunice Sandborn from Texas at 114. A woman, most of them are women, so I'm already ahead in the game. The oldest person ever live until she was 122, which a bit excessive i think.

The oldest person to ever live in Ireland was Katherine Plunket, she died in 1934 and was 111 and 327 days (the days seem to NB with these supercentarien's). She was from Louth and was an aristocrat, so probably quite a 'lady'.
  • I too would be considered 'lady' in most company, in the Julie Andrews sense of the word.
  • She probably lived on a basic Irish diet, considering her life was mostly set in the late 19th century, potatoes would have been popular I'd say...... I LOVE potatoes.
  • And lastly, her grandad lived in Bray..... MY grandad lives in Bray.

So many comparisons, I'm well on my way to the title. I know what you're thinking, genes play a part, never fear, my grandad is 97 this year and all his brothers and sisters live well over 90, so its all good!
Of course there is a chance I'll die in an horrific plane accident or get eating by a shark, but sure i can only deal with that if it happens.

Now most of these supercentariens credit being relaxed/content/not bothered to a large part in their longevity. This is something i need to work on. I can credit every chest infection in the past few years to me over reacting or being stressed (the last being an unfortunate speeding ticket which resulted in my Christmas cold)

So that's its, I'm gonna practise this 'mind over matter' philosophy and live to be a supercentarien, no biggie, Happy New Year.

unrequited love for Mary

Hello Mary*.
I recently remembered how very pretty you are and how cool you seemed to be and was wondering if you'd like to go out sometime? I know it's been ages, and that over the course of this time you may have gotten less pretty or less cool, or I may have gotten less pretty or less cool, but I'd like to find out either way.

John*

Now if you're chuckling away to yourself reading this, or if you think what awful novel did i lift this from. I can confirm that this is an actual facebook mail my friend got today.

I couldn't not share..

First of all, its vaguely insulting, 'less pretty or less cool', and he's still willing to go out with her?! what a catch! My brain is baffled. Is this a bet or a joke? Apparently it is not. Mary tells me that the young man is a bit socially retarded.....no way, really?

..and since we're all sharing i have to say that this is not the first time young Mary has been the object of a creepy guys affection.
For years, Mary came home from college, wrecked, in need of a nap and flopped onto her bed. usually throwing her books, laptop, clothes around the place for the relief of pjs and a duvet. Not once thinking she was being watched....that's right.
In all the years she floated about the privacy of her room, she didn't close the curtains. Recently the parents of the young man living behind Mary happen to be in his room, only to see herself coming out of the shower, i wont bore you wit the details, but there may have been nudity involved...i know i know! This was meant to be a PG blog.

Anywho, they went on to tell her parents and poor Mary was sat down to let her know that leaving curtains open and prancing around you're room naked is really only inviting Peeping Tom's to have a gawk.

There you go people, be warned, even if you have trees outside the window, close your curtains!

I know Irish guys sometime get a hard time from us young ladies. But i think they're going to have to try a lil harder..

*name have been changed to make this a little less embarrassing...just a little.

love your links

Last night in my online marketing class we learnt all sorts of useful Internet jargon, found out where all the cool web pages are, and did a whole lot of twittering! Well that was mostly me as the rest of my class mates aren't mad for the twitter...yet!

This fine afternoon i wanna share some "secret media tools" ie; better looking links!
Whether its on twitter, facebook, email or wherever else you Internet nerds find yourself, there are some pretty hideous looking links floating around. In real life and internet life i am a clean- freak and like things to be neat and efficient.

So instead of having links like this:

you could have it like this..
To do that i used the website  bit.ly
If you want to customise the link, everyone loves a bitta customizing!, you have to sign in and create an account, which only takes a sec, so then you can make you're link look like this:

There are a few other site that do the same
&

now go clean up your links and your bedrooms, cuz i know you haven't hoovered in a while

hope somebody finds this useful! :)
